When people are sick they often turn towards more conventional medicine to cure them of their ailments, but there are more natural medicinal practices out there, and Ayurveda is one of the most popular.
What is Ayurveda?
Ayurveda, which means “Science of Life” in Sanskrit, is the world’s oldest ancient healing system. Its roots can be traced back to more than five thousand years ago, and it refers to India’s Veda era. It is a medical system that relies solely on the holistic and natural approach to mental and physical health. An Ayurvedic treatment combines products, mostly made from plants, with diet, lifestyle, and exercise. The main purpose of Ayurveda is to restore a perfect balance to each individual and enable each person to live a happy life.
Ayurveda Today
Giving the huge advancements in technology, you would be forgiven for thinking that this brand of medicine is not very relevant in today’s world, but you would actually be pretty mistaken. Tradition is something that is hard to shake, and Ayurveda is no exception to this. It still happens to be accepted by many thanks to its efficient remedies, with many also seeing it as a medicinal system that has no boundaries.
In plenty of western countries, there are many women and men who are health conscious and much prefer Ayurveda over more conventional and modern medicines that come with a range of adverse side effects. In these countries, you can be treated with Ayurveda at private clinics, while in Asia it is a practice that you will find all over. In fact, the WHO, World Heath Organisation, in a recent study revealed that more than 40% of Asia’s population make use of Ayurveda. Also, the WHO benchmarks for the practice of Ayurveda, which is probably not something that many would have expected to hear.
About Us
We have been practicing Ayurveda for many years now, so if you decide to come to us to use this ancient medicine to cleanse your body and soul, then you can rest assured that you are in very good hands. When you come to us, we will begin by figuring out your Prakuti, which is your nature and constitution when 100% healthy, and then we will try and find your Vikruti, which are imbalances and disease that have moved you away from your Prakuti. Once we have done that, we will recommend a certain diet, body work, lifestyle, and medicinal herbs. We might also, depending on what we find, recommend a detox programme that is known as Panchakarm to help you get back to being 100% healthy.
One of the things that we really love about Ayuverda is the fact that it is not one-size-fits-all medicine. Instead, it gives us a roadmap to help work out your unique constitution and the types of herbs, foods, and exercise that you need to bring out the best in yourself. Ayurverda has the potential to treat diseases and ailments, but it puts a big emphasis on prevention. Mild symptoms such as skin issues, constipation, gas, bloating, and weight fluctuation are early signs of potential disease later on if left untreated. So, while a mainstream doctor will give you laxatives in order to fix constipation, we will try to figure out why you are constipated and try to fix it at its root.
In other words, our aim at our Ayurveda clinic is not just the absence of disease, but rather to help you to full health on a physical, emotional, mental, and spiritual level.
Our Profile
Our founder, Christina Perry, became interested in this kind of medicine after she took part in her first sugar detox around two decades ago. After the health success that it was, it really changed her understanding of the big role that nutrition can play when it comes to physical and mental wellbeing. Christina’s energy levels increased, she was getting better sleep, and the complexion of her skin improved.
This motivated her to start studying nutrition, and she took a B.SC in nutrition at the University of Florida before following that up by doing her Masters in Holistic Nutrition. During her studying, Christina learnt a little bit about Ayurveda and became enamoured by it, so she went on a path to find out even more about this system of medicine. Once she had finished her masters, she set out to learn as much as she could about Ayurveda and eventually, she qualified as an Ayurveda Practitioner and has gone on to become extremely well respected in this medicinal field.
We are all extremely passionate about Ayurveda at our clinic and we are learning from the best (Christina) all of the time, so no matter who sees you when you visit us, you will be seen by someone who knows what they are talking about and will do their utmost to give you the treatment that you deserve.
